James Jillson Selway, Composer The music of James Jillson Selway flows with a sense of wonder and exaltation. Songs for treble voices, sacred choral pieces for mixed chorus, art songs and solo piano pieces, are filled with soaring melodies supported by warm, rich harmonies. The songs of love, hope, and inspiration written specifically for the beautifully angelic voices of the World Children’s Choir have been sung in many parts of the world – Canada, Bermuda, Ireland, Scotland, Romania, Malaysia, and the United States. And the songs have been requested and sung by other youth and children’s choirs world-wide. Many of theses songs for treble voice and soprano can be heard on the CD “We Must Dream” (WCCWMD5555) which is available through the World Children’s Choir website www.worldchildrenschoir.org Two more recent songs of Mr. Selway are included in the CD “Let Us Be United,” which has just been released by the World Children’s Choir. The two new songs are “A Gift of Love,” a powerful song of peace, and “La revedere,” written in Romania in summer of 2005 to celebrate the Voices for Children Arts and Peace Camp held in Timisoara, Romania, under the sponsorship of Friendship Ambassadors Foundation and the World Children’s Choir. Mr. Selway’s anthem, “Wake to the Light,” based upon Psalm 139, was performed and recorded in January of 2006 by the Trinity Cathedral Choir in Phoenix, Arizona.
